The nautilus shell is one of many shapes found in nature that depict the Fibonacci series, a number series that has a most unique property: dynamic symmetry. Dynamic symmetry might best be described as change, in balance, over time.

In the case of the nautilus shell, as it grows, it does so in perfect proportionality: it achieves balance from its change. So in the Argosy logo we see a symbol for change, but in a balanced, harmonious way.
